Introduction
We at ABIQ believe ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) is
an essential basis for any therapy program for children with
autism. Autism, however, is a multi-sensory disturbance which
can effect fine motor, gross motor, speech, auditory, spatial
and visual awareness and ability.
ABA incorporates programs for fine motor, gross motor, spatial,
visual tracking, hearing, recall etc... ABA service is usually
provided by psychologists or educators who have a general
knowledge of the inherent problems a child with autism may
face. ABA service providers are not necessarily experts in
the fields of speech therapy or optometry. If the child with
autism has a specific problem, ABIQ recommends parents obtain
the services of a person who is an expert in the relevant
field.
If, for example your child has a flaccid tongue, we recommend
you engage the services of a speech pathologist to address
the problem, and so give ABA the chance to deliver its full
potential.
