Tony Attwood, PhD
Dr Tony Attwood trained as a clinical psychologist in the
United Kingdom and was awarded a PhD for his thesis on the
social gestures of children with Autism. He has nearly 25
years experience as a practising clinician specialising in
Autism, in particular the understanding of challenging behaviour
and effective management strategies, the diagnosis of children
under three years, and Asperger's Syndrome. He has been a
keynote speaker at numerous international and national conferences,
and has published seminar papers on Autism with Uta Frith
and Lorna Wing.
His current research projects are on repetitive behaviour,
the diagnosis and treatment of children with Asperger's Syndrome,
and the nature and consequences of movement disorders in children
and adults with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder. He is
currently working in private practice in Queensland, Australia.

Professor Jeff Sigafoos
DR Jeff Sigafoos was the Associate Professor of Special Education
in the Fred and Eleanor Schonell Special Education Research
Centre at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.
In 1998, he took up a joint appointment as professor of education
and Chair of Special Education at the University of Sydney,
and the Children's Hospital Education Research Institute in
Sydney.
DR Sigafoos is involved in training educational psychologists
to work with children with Autism and related developmental
disorders. His research interests include augmentative communication
for children with multiple disabilities, early intervention
and the treatment of serious problem behaviours among children
with developed mental disabilities. He is editor of the International
Journal of Disability, Development and Education, co-author
of two books on communication intervention, and he has published
60 research articles.

Associate Professor Matthew Sanders
DR Matthew Sanders is currently the Director of the Parenting
and Family Support Centre, and Chair of the School of the
Psychology Research Committee at the University of Queensland
in Brisbane, Australia. He is currently conducting a major
clinical trial on the prevention of conduct disorders and
is currently evaluating the effectiveness of the Triple P
professional training programme for primary care practitioners.
DR Sanders research interests include evaluating the effects
of behavioural family intervention with parents of developmentally
disabled children with severe behavioural disorders. He has
written or co-authored 11 books and he has published over
70 research articles.
