The cost of supported accommodation or institutionalisation at 18 years of age through the life time of a person with Autism is approximately $109,000 to $150,000 for 50 years. This leaves a total supported accommodation or institution costing an average of $3.75 million through the life time of a person with Autism.

Total cost = $4,030,000 ($AUS)

How much does ABA cost?

The cost of the programme varies from family to family. For example, a single child family may be able to assist in the therapy lessons. Not all people can teach and be mum and dad in some instances. A family with other young children may not have time to conduct a therapy lesson.

The average cost is approximately $33,250 for a 30 hour week, 50 weeks per year. An ABA programme consultant is required approximately 3 hours per fortnight at a cost of $100 per hour. An initial training of parents and therapists is approximately 20 hours at $100 per hour.
